1 A laborer, Fatai Muhammed, was moored at a court in Kado Grade 1 area, Abuja on Thursday for allegedly stealing building materials worth N124,000.
The accused, who resides in Jabi village, Abuja, is on trial for theft.
2 The prosecutor, Mr. Ferdinand Orjitold the court that the plaintiff, Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwu from Lento Village, Abuja, reported the matter to Life Camp Police Station, Abuja on 9 August.
Orji said that the plaintiff, during the month of July, employed the defendant as a laborer to transport blocks to his construction site.
3 The prosecutor alleged that four days after the defendant began work on the site, the plaintiff discovered that the store where the materials were stored had been broken into.
4 He alleged that a vibrating machine worth N112,000 and a binding wire worth N12,000 were missing.
5 He said the accused fled after the alleged robbery but was arrested after a week, at another location.
6 The prosecutor said the offense violated the provisions of Article 288 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
seven The judge, Mohammed Wakili, admitted the accused to post bail of 200,000 naira and bail of a similar sum.
He ordered the surety to provide his BVN printed, two recent photographs and a valid identity document.
Wakili adjourned the case until October 6, for hearing ( NOPE)
